The Code Environment in Jacksonville

Florida operates under the Florida Building Code, a statewide code adopted and enforced by the Florida Building Commission. The current 8th Edition (2023) of the FBC is based on the 2021 International Building Code with Florida-specific amendments. The Florida Fire Prevention Code is based on NFPA 1 and NFPA 101 and is administered through local fire marshals. In Jacksonville, that is the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
