Indiana operates under a statewide building code adopted by the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission. The current Indiana Building Code is based on the 2012 IBC with Indiana-specific amendments.

Fire safety requirements in Indiana are governed by the Indiana Fire Code, also adopted by the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission. The consistency of Indiana's statewide code adoption simplifies the early design phase, but the state's code adoption timeline means Indiana may be working from a different code edition than neighboring states.
